Sonya Tazewell
LMSW, MSW
Hey there, I’m Sonya, and I have a story, like many, that includes challenges, mistakes, and hard lessons. I’ve made my share of missteps, but the most important thing I’ve learned is not to stay stuck in them—I took ownership of my choices. Taking responsibility wasn’t easy, but I embraced it, and with that came the determination to do things differently. There were moments in my life when I felt trapped, with no way out, but I found strength in my protective factors: my husband, family, best friend, and my faith in Jesus Christ.
My journey of transformation has been driven by the belief in the power of words and affirmations. One of my favorite quotes is, “If you say you can, then you will. If you say you can’t, then you won’t.” I am passionate about helping others tap into their own strength through the words they speak to themselves.
I’m married with three adult sons, and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker with over 15 years of experience in individual and group therapy, particularly with adolescents, as well as managing family conflict. My expertise includes working with school-aged children, mental health issues, and crisis intervention. I have extensive experience in trauma-informed practices, addressing low self-esteem, depression, impulsive and oppositional behavior, and supporting adolescents and young adults through difficult transitions.
My approach is client-centered, and my passion is to help others recognize the value within themselves. I am committed to providing the tools and support needed to help my clients thrive in everyday life and become successful in navigating their challenges.
